WLC mission: To positively influence and enhance the future of our community through education, advocacy, empowerment and investment.

Women’s Leadership Supports Montgomery County United Way in the three priority areas:

  • Education
  • Financial Independence
  • Health and Wellness
  • Young Mother’s Daycare Scholarship as WLC’s signature project

Women’s Leadership Council’s Young Mother’s Daycare Scholarship supports young moms in their efforts to pursue post-secondary education.  One of the biggest obstacles for a young mother is childcare.  This scholarship is unique in that it underwrites childcare for deserving young women who are committed to continuing their education after completing high school. Members of the Women’s Leadership Council serve as scholarship interviewers by meeting the young women and serving as Vicki Hitzgesshining examples of what their future could be.  Each scholarship awarded could be up to $8,000 per year based on need.

Since 2008, Women’s Leadership has awarded more than $112,000 in scholarships.  In the 2013-14 school year, three young women were awarded scholarships and six scholarships were awarded for the 2014-15 school year.

This year, we are joined by speaker, Vicki Hitzges.  Click HERE to learn more!
