The United Way Women's Leadership Council are community-minded women who make personal gifts of $1,000 or more annually. This dynamic group of women share a common interest to create a better community within the Houston area. Their annual event, Women Who Rock, is the signature Women's Leadership Council lunch. Proceeds from this event go directly towards scholarships helping young mothers who are committed to continuing their education after completing high school. One of the biggest obstacles for young mothers is child care. United Way's Young Mother's Child Care Scholarship underwrites child care for deserving young women within the community.
Women contributing $2,500 or more will also become a member of the Unite Way Women's Initiative. The Women's Initiative is more than 1,000 women strong within the Houston region. This remarkable group of women from all walks of life come together to create positive change in the community. Being a Women's Initiative member includes an array of events such as networking events, speaker series, educational events, and volunteer opportunities.
United Way Women's Leadership Council saw its first graduates from the Young Mother's Child Care Scholarship. Funds raised from the Women Who Rock lunch in Novemeber support this wonderful program. Congratulations graduates!
