Our Work

We are working all over our community every day to empower our neighbors to live better lives.

Academic Success

Education is a cornerstone for success in school, work and life. When children complete graduation, they not only have opportunity to earn more, but they contribute more to our local economy and become engaged with our community. Our goal in Montgomery County, by 2020, is to  increase the percentage of students who complete post-secondary education and/or job training after completing high school or equivalent. In order to achieve this goal, we are strategically investing in solutions that support, connect and build on a stronger  educational foundation.

Health and Wellness

The challenge of improving health goes beyond the means of having access to healthcare; it is also about promoting healthy eating and physical activity. We know that a good education leads to more employment pportunities, and we know that people who are financially stable are more likely to have access to quality health care. Montgomery County United Way is focusing efforts on solutions that will help to remove barriers to healthcare, eating healthy and staying  active, to create healthier individuals and  a  thriving community. Education, Financial Stability, and Health & Wellness are inextricably linked.

Financial Independence

Montgomery County benefits when more working individual families are able to stop walking a financial tightrope and get on solid ground. That is why we focus on lasting solutions that go beyond the traditional band-aide solutions. Financially stable people are more likely to have access to quality healthcare, provide a good education for their children and contribute to the local economy. Our goal to reduce the rate of financially unstable* households in Montgomery County by a minimum of 20% by 2020.
