Lone Star Leaders
The Lone Star Flag, designed in Montgomery County, inspired the name of Montgomery County United Way's Lone Star Leader Club. The Lone Star Leader giving levels are named after visionary progressive leaders of Texas such as Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin. We offer the Lone Star Leaders Club to honor the visionary spirit of individuals who donate $1,000 or more to Montgomery County United Way. This honor is given to those who truly Live United in our community. Each year the Lone Star Leaders Roster is sent to key community members including the Lone Star Leaders

The strength of the Lone Star Leaders Club lies in each member’s belief that our community is indeed a community worthy of significant personal investment.  These individuals have shown their concern for our community and the needs of others.  Their gift to our community through Montgomery County United Way places them in an elite group of leaders who provide a shining example of humanity.  By unifying the efforts of our philanthropic leaders, we can significantly affect health and human services needs in our community.

Lone Star Leader Giving Levels

Alexis de Tocqueville Society $10,000 and above
Only 26 years old when he came to America in 1831, Alexis Charles-Henri de Tocqueville traveled extensively, recording his observations of life in the young nation. Tocqueville recognized, applauded, and immortalized American voluntary action on behalf of the common good. The observation on philanthropy made by Alexis de Tocqueville in 1831 is true today.  The Alexis de Tocqueville Society members of Montgomery County United Way follow in a long line of great leaders, who have declared that our community is worthy of a significant personal investment.
Sam Houston Society $ 7,500 to 9,999
As Sam Houston’s heroism led Texas into independent statehood, the members of the Sam Houston Society lead our community in responding to new challenges facing Montgomery County citizens.  Sam Houston Society members allow Montgomery County United Way to emerge as health and human service leaders as the fabric of our community changes.
Stephen F. Austin Club $ 5,000 to 7,499
As Stephen F. Austin was named the “Father of Texas”, the Stephen F. Austin Society serves as father to Montgomery County by serving as leaders providing resources for children, the elderly, those with illness or disabilities, troubled teens and single parents.
William Travis Club $2,500 to 4,999
William Travis, as defender of the Alamo, said “I shall never surrender or retreat.”  He led by example by showing unyielding courage and heroism just as the William Travis Society leads by example.  They stimulate a renewed commitment to Montgomery County by leading others to make a significant impact.
Mirabeau Lamar Club $1,000 to $2,499
Mirabeau Lamar led with distinguished bravery at the Battle of San Jacinto and later was known as “The Father of Texas Education” and served as Vice President and President of the Republic of Texas.  His deep commitment to serve Texas is like the commitment level of the Mirabeau Lamar Society.  These members are committed to finding long term solutions for the most pressing needs of our county.
