Montgomery County United Way divides its work into three conceptual areas that ultimately seek long term solutions for the most pressing needs in our community.  Each conceptual area is represented by an Impact Council which is made up of a broad spectrum of volunteers from all walks of life, all areas of the county, non-profit and business people, government representatives, civic organization and faith based representatives.  The current priority funding areas (as voted on by the MCUW Board of Directors) are separated by conceptual area.

Creating Independence:
Long Term Outcome:  Residents of Montgomery County have the resources they need to live independently, make wise choices and follow avenues that enhance personal growth.

#1 priority – Moving People Out of Poverty
#3 priority – Helping People Cope With Challenging Situations and Developing Resiliency

Community Well Being:
Long Term Outcome:  Residents of Montgomery County will be physically healthy, live in safe communities, have affordable housing and engage in the civic life of the community.

#2 priority – Facilitating Access to Affordable and Quality Health Care
#4 priority – Prevention and Treatment of Drug and Alcohol Abuse

Responding to Crisis:
Long Term Outcome:  People will remain in their home and on the job when something unforeseen adversely impacts them; people will not become homeless or transient because of an unforeseen personal event.

#5 priority – Providing temporary Assistance in the event of a Crisis.
