Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) (click here for flier) program in Montgomery County offers free tax help to people who generally make $58,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. VITA volunteers work with tax filers to ensure they get the full refund and credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit, they are entitled to.  
 
If you earned less than $58,000 in 2016, you can receive free tax assistance preparation and e-filing, through  V.I.T.A.- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers FREE income tax preparation service by IRS-trained volunteers for low to moderate income individuals, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.  VITA volunteers work with tax filers to ensure they get the full refund and credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit, they are entitled to. Free tax preparatioin is available now through April 18, 2017.
