It has been my pleasure to serve as your 2011-2012 Montgomery County United Way Campaign Chair. I have felt privileged to serve with an amazing Campaign Cabinet, bringing their energy and support to our community campaign.
The goal this year was set at $4.7 million which is a 4.4% increase over the $4.5 million raised last year. Texas has had a much stronger economy than the rest of the nation. Montgomery County corporations and donors have shown a continued interest in partnering with Montgomery County United Way to improve lives in our community. Anadarko Petroleum Corporation changed its designation policy last year and MCUW was the recipient of a major increase in pledges. We were very thankful of Anadarko’s first Million Dollar Campaign for MCUW.
However, we are starting to see signs of a tough economy in our county. Recent state budget cuts have affected a number of families in our area. We started this campaign strong with our Pacesetter firms coming in with a 5% increase over last year with some great results from CB&I and Memorial Hermann. Jeff Garrett from Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. did a great job. We thank Anadarko this year for their 2nd Million Dollar Campaign.
We hope to close our 2011-2012 Campaign as close to goal as possible. With your continued partnership, we will continue to change the lives of families in our county.
We served well over 200,000 people this past year and the needs continue to grow so we will continue to push for all the financial resources we can raise. Thanks for all that you do to Give, Advocate and Volunteer! Live United!
